PricePaid: 125 GBP (New) Purchased From: N/A Model Year: 2005Features: [7] Basswood body - looks like the shape of a 51 precision bass crossed with a Strat.
Maple C-Shape neck.
It's got one humbucker pickup and one single coil.
There are two knobs - they look like the tele ones - One is a volume but the other is a pickup selector. You can also push/pull the volume knob for coil tapping - so you can switch the humbucker into a single coil. COOL!
Sounds: [7] I was really pleased at how many different sounds I could get out of it. You can play really clean or really drive it and get a really heavy rock sound.
I run it through a Line 6 Spider - this means I can get loads of great sounds out ouf it. Action, Fit & Finish: [7] It may be a cheap guitar but the finish is good. I don't like the pick guard though! It's quite thick and doesn't look that well cut.
I don't know if I have rubbish tuners but mine does hold the tuning as well as a friends Squire Custom Telecaster. Surely they must be the same ones??
Mine's the vintage blonde but it has quite a yellow hue. The tele model is a bit more subtle.
My friend also set it up a little better adjusting the intonation etc. It plays great. Reliability & Durability: [6] I don't use this as my main guitar - I bought it for some different sounds and as a backup.
It's quite solid but I don't think I would want to only rely on this. Overall Rating: [7] My main guitar is a Mexican standard Strat and this compliments it well.
I recon this is great value - at only 125 quid who can argue? It is nice that Squire are experimenting and offering a little mnore than straight Fender copies.
I'd recommend this as a great starter guitar or a nice, cheap backup/2nd guitar.
