PricePaid: 60 GBP (S/H) Purchased From: used Model Year: 2000Features / Ease of Use: [6] Its got three channels -
A Fender twin
A Boogie
A Marshall
It's got a speaker simulator too.
You set the drive level and the volume for each of the channels and then when you click the footswitch it scrolls through the 3 channels ... basically it goes clean, dirty, filthy!
If you turn any of the channels off, that channel becomes a bypass.
It doesn't give you the option to bypass it unless you turn one of the channels off which isn't very good.
I use it to give me a clean boost (the Fender channel) or a filthy boost (the Marshall channel) and have the Boogie channel switched off as it's awful. It's just muddy overdrive and I'm sure they don't sound like that! Sound: [7] The clean Fender sound is good but it always sounds as if it's going through a phaser as there is a sweeping sound in the background.
The Boogie sound is awful, it's just a muddy overdrive and I can't find a use for it.
The Marshall sound is what does it for me. It's a great overdrive and it really does sound like a Marshall simulator. The pedal is worth it for this one alone.
It's clean when you bypass and the switching between channels is silent too. These bad boys ain't cheap if you buy them new so I guess they should be pretty quiet.
I've used it to record with and the speaker simulator doesnt do much. Reliability & Durability: [9] This makes a Boss pedal feel like it's been on a diet. They shoulda called it a Sherman or a Chieftan. It's gotta be unbreakable as it weighs a tonne.
Don't use batteries with it coz it eats them. It uses a Boss PSA fine. Overall Rating: [8] This is what I paid for it for the Marshall setting alone. I use a Levinson Blade as my main axe and get a great clean and filthy sound but can't do anything with the supposed Boogie sound.
I don't know if I'd have been happy if I'd have paid the full retail coz it's a lot of bucks new.
