If you have a Variax guitar you can also put that straight in digitally.
USB recording and you can even plug headphones into it and also run a CD platey etc through it.
Along with that it's got great editing features so you can really personalise each tone.
Sound: [9] I bought a pod 2 when they first came out and was quite impressed. This thing blows it out of the water. I'm big into old amp sounds but have you seen the stupid price of vintage amps now? The XT Live is a very good compromise.
You have to spend a little time tweaking this baby although it does sound good straight out of the box. Whatever you run it into is going to change it's characteristics a little but just use your ears.
Some of the presets are a little OTT but isn't that the way with many effects?
I don't suppose most people will use all of the tones etc as there is so much there. With so many sounds it'll suit so many styles.
It's so great to have a tool like this that you can take on the road and use for recording with basically all the sounds / effects you'll ever need.
I love old stuff and the Fender Bassman sound is hard to beat.
For sure, if there is an amp sound in your head you can emulate it with the XT.
Reliability & Durability: [8] I've only been using this for 6 months so it is too early to say. It is built well so the signs are good. Line 6 have a great forum on their website which is great for any bits of help you need and you never have to wait long for someone to help you - a good community.
Overall Rating: [9] You do need to spend some time with this to get the best out of it. Considering how much you can do it is very intuitive to use though. Don't get me wrong, you'll get some great sounds straight away it's just that with any powerful tool you get out what you put in.
One of my favourite features is being able to edit straight on the computer. You can also download tones straight from their website. And if you are really into it you can upload yours for others to use. Oh and you can also download software updates from the Line 6 website!
It might seem quite a bit of money as a one off purchase but considering what you can get out of it it is great value for money.
I'd love to try a Variax through this, it must be amazing.
