This is such a great tool for practising and is easy to use too. Not only that but it sounds great too. I have some high end guitars and the last thing you want to do is plug them into a practice unit that makes them sound like a catalogue special ;)

The unit contains loads of amp/cab simulations and effects. There are quite a few presets but a whole variety of new sounds can be had with a little tweaking.

Although you can be up and running very quickly, a read of the manual will make sure you get the most out of the Pandora.

Oh, and it has a built-in tuner which can be handy.

The sound is fantastic for a little practice unit. You won't get the same quality as having the separate effects but for what it is intended for it's great. Besides, for me, I tend to use a nice valve amp simulation with some reverb and maybe a little echo.

The backing beats and basslines are OK, but as a jam along tool they do just fine.

There can be a little background noise but then again this isn't really a recording tool.

Reliability & Durability: [8]
It hasn't let me down yet. I only use it at home (and the odd trip away) so it is not exactly leading a hard life. Although made of plastic it feels quite tough - probably wouldn't fair so well on a long fall onto a hard surface. I do keep mine in the little case that Korg produce.

For what this is it's a great unit. I had the original PX-1 before I had this and although I was impressed when I first got that, this is leaps and bounds above the original.

I wish it had the facility to create more loops and it would make an even better jamming tool. You only seem to be put together 8 bars. Now, while there is a 12 bar blues turnaround you can't create your own.

Maybe future models will have more memory and programming capabilities??

Still, that's a minor gripe and probably just me being greedy.

There's nothing like using this to block out the Mrs while she watches TV ;)
